Melanie is a law student at Columbia University in New York and excited to join the Chapter Four team as an intern for the summer. At Columbia Law, she serves on the boards of several student organizations including the Student Public Interest Network and is on the staff of the Journal of Gender and Law.

Before attending law school, Melanie worked as an advocate for wildlife and a public speaking coach. She has also been active in state and local politics throughout Nevada and California, volunteering on numerous campaigns and fundraising for candidates.

She holds a degree in Public Policy from Stanford and is also a graduate of Emerge California, a training program for women running for office. Melanie developed her interest in civil liberties and human rights while a student at Stanford and has pursued a career in the public sector since then.
